New pornography laws ‘could make comic books illegal’, say campaigners
They are protesting against two pieces of legislation. The first,
the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act, comes into force later this
month.
It will make possessing "extreme pornography" - defined
as any "extreme image" produced "solely or principally for the purpose
of sexual arousal" - illegal.
The Government defines an "extreme
image" as any "grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise ... obscene"
moving or still depiction of someone any "reasonable person" would
think real being sexually injured or engaging in sexual activity with
an animal or corpse.

Apple vs. Palm vs. The world. [RANT]

Backstory: Apple filed for the patent on multitouch interfaces for computing devices in 2006. They won it recently. The Palm Pre features a multitouch interface. The fight is on!
I added the world in there because touch screen technology WILL suck for a long time without multitouch technology. I don't think Apple's patent will hold up in court. Multitouch is a software development feature..these screens are OEM anyone can buy them in bulk and they are all capable of doing such things.
Why didn't the OEM obtain this patent? It seems like a fairly obvious use of something they make. Maybe they knew that it was a software patent that wouldn't hold up.
If Apple wins I'll be disappointed. I do have an iPhone. I really like it. I do think that if Multitouch is tied down to Apple the consumer WILL lose. Google and Palm should really step up to this patent and try to win it or else there will never be a true iPhone killer. Which is really bad for business and consumers.
How will the kids be able to play 2 fart sounds with a single touch interface. I'm disgusted.
Panhandler making $400 a day. Always donate Kung-fu.

You should really donate Kung-Fu lessons in this situation.
The City of Edmonton is moving forward on its crackdown on
aggressive panhandlers, a group of about 20 or 30 people who police
estimate were responsible for 90 per cent of the complaints they
received last year.
"I know of one individual that lives in a high-rise downtown,"
Edmonton police Insp. Brian Nowlan said Monday. "He makes about $400 a
day panhandling, so this is way of making an income."
Nowlan appeared Monday before the city's community services
committee to speak in favour of bylaw amendments that would make it
easier for police to ticket aggressive panhandlers.

Trust your gut: Too much thinking leads to bad choices

Watch out! There are eggs in your eggs!
In these health-conscious times food companies are increasingly keen
to warn consumers if ingredients may cause allergic reactions.
But one firm has gone a step further by advising shoppers that its boxes of eggs contain...egg.
The Happy Egg Company’s six-pack of eggs – which features the company’s
name and is decorated with a picture of an egg and a cartoon chicken –
contains the message ‘allergy advice: contains egg’ inside the lid of
the boxes.
